going through withdrawal

I miss my family, and I saw them all only two days ago. This morning le husband and I sat side-by-side on the edge of the bed and bemoaned the fact that we’re not independently wealthy and therefore able to avoid going to work. (We both know we would get bored in another week, but coming back to work after a vacation is never fun.)

I’ll post pictures soon. I took hardly any this trip; le husband handled the camera most days, leaving me free to talk to my lovely family. There are some awesome shots in the mix, though.

Did I mention that it was in the fifties and sixties for the whole trip? Fabulousness. Which made our return trip, driving into a rainstorm, even more tragic.

While out there we tried to catch up on celluloid viewing. Saw Casino Royale (loved), Children of Men (ok), and Black Dahlia (hated). Also rewatched Little Miss Sunshine with the whole family, and to our delight everyone loved it, including le stepmum.

Introduced the family to the wondrousness that is Heaggy’s Pecan clusters, and I think they’re all addicted. They’re threatening to eat granmother’s Christmas present instead of delivering it to her.

We ate sushi as much as we could. Porkchop and I wanted it for breakfast, but unfortunately they’re not open that early. Maybe if we adjusted our schedules so we arise at 11 and go to bed at 3 am?

We also toured all the houses that have been acquired since our last trip east: two. Both lovely, huge, old, and making me very jealous.

Catchphrase: butt raped monkey.

Gave Porkchop all three of Ruth Reichl’s books for Christmas; she loves them as much as I did.

I love my family; they’re seriously among the coolest people in the world.
