not really a hipster, but I’m fine with that

Walking down the street to work, enjoying the crisp air and changing leaves. I’m wearing jeans, stilettos (I know, total cliche) and a leather jacket. My hair has dark streaks, I’m wearing large, angular sunglasses that cover half my face. In most any city, I could pass for hip, although not a hipster (they don’t wear heels, preferring converse and retro pumas). But I know the truth: I’m really not cool at all. My iPod just started playing Kelly Clarkson. And not just ANY Kelly Clarkson, but “A Moment Like This,” the song loved by pageant directors the world over. (Prior to the release of that song, what did they play after the crowning?)

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why we’re glad that iPods have earbuds. We can listen to whatever we want (disco, anyone?) without blowing our coolness cred.
