watching

We watched “Capote” last night. Or rather, I did. The husband fell asleep through the middle of it. Which is fine–it’s definitely more my* type of movie than his. And we’re going to see “Dead Man’s Chest” tomorrow, so we’ll be even.

Phillip Seymour-Hoffman definitely deserved the Oscar he got for his role. Everything–his voice, his mannerisms, his walk–convey the character of Capote. However, as far as the movie goes? Worth watching at least once. It’s an interesting look at a man who’s always been different but¬†desperately craves approval, at his dissembling in search of friendship, and above all, his pursuit of the perfect novel. I probably won’t watch it again, but it was good to see once.

*That means it was slower, quieter, and dialogue rather than stunt-driven.
